From the Chair

Another election year is over. The 2004 election was marked by a real energy, a unity of purpose that defied the odds to present a vigorous, responsible Libertarian response to the madness that the major parties offered us. We had articulate, dedicated candidates who made an impact in debates we were allowed to participate in, in candidates’ nights, in rallies and distribution of over 35,000 brochures. We even garnered positive publicity for the debates that we were excluded from! In addition, Nevada was in the forefront of national support for the Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate, Michael Badnarik, with outstanding support shown in Clark and Washoe County. In turn, Nevada was the target of a large percentage of his television advertising budget, bringing the Libertarian message to more Nevadans than ever before.

We are laying the foundation for an even better campaign in 2006. The Gubernatorial elections are important for the future of Nevada. Our campaign website, www.voteforachange.us, has been reformatted as a resource for attracting candidates for 2006. We want to run a full slate of candidates to speak out for liberty in Nevada. If you have never run for office before, now is the time to step up to the plate. We need more Libertarians to form an affiliate party in their county, to reach out and spread the word of Liberty. The Republicans and Democrats are working hard to take away your freedoms. Surely you can devote some time to promoting Liberty. Nevada is rapidly changing into just another big government state with a bit more glitter. Isn’t it time we brought real freedom back to Nevada? Get active, become a member, become a pledger. And, consider running for office in 2006!
