The Vote for a Change Caucus of the Libertarian Party of Nevada spoke about the unified Congressional Campaign the party ran in 2004.
Their website is www.voteforachange.us.
The tactic of running a unified campaign where candidates share a platform and resources
will be expanded to include State legislative candidates in 2006. As a minor political
party, the Caucus feels that this is the best, most cost effective way for the
Libertarian Party to present its ideas for real, constructive change to the people of
Nevada and the media that hopefully represents the views of all Nevadans during political
campaigns.
The LPN Convention passed several resolutions. It expressed support for Professor Herman Hans-Hoppe in his battle for Academic Freedom at UNLV that has garnered world wide attention.
The convention endorsed IP3, the Marijuana Decriminalization Inititiative.
It expressed support for a Taxpayer Bill of Rights Initiative (TABOR) that would limit government spending to a formula of population growth plus inflation and trigger refunds to the people of excess taxes collected.
In addition, the convention called for the privatization of airport security at Nevada airports, and urged swift implementation of the rights of airline pilots to carry guns on board aircraft.
The convention re-affirmed support for the Nevada Campaign to Defeat the Patriot Act, and opposition to the Real ID Act of 2005.
It called for the repeal of the Nevada Statute that forces citizens to produce ID on demand and without probable cause by Police Officers, opposing the Supreme Court's decision to uphold it in Nevada V Hibbel.
It also passed resolutions condemning the increasing practice of warrantless police searches of students on campus.
The Libertarian Party of Nevada 2005 Convention also called for the return of the public lands of Nevada to the State of Nevada and its citizens.
The Libertarian Party was founded in 1972. It is America's Third Party, with over 600 elected or appointed officials nationwide.
It stands for the Principles of America's founding-limited government, taxation as low as possible, and respect for individual rights.
Its members believe in Freedom and and personal responsibility as the best way to achieve a just and peaceful world.
In November 2006, Vote for a Change-Vote Libertarian!
