Why I am Running as a Libertarian
I believe in freedom, and personal responsibility. TheSenate we have now
believes in neither. The Republican Senators for the most part believe that freedom means
the right to say only what is nice and proper, the right to consume only government
approved drugs, the right to be regulated, subsidized and controlled. They cut a few
taxes, but increase spending like drunken sailors. They believe that the greatest threat
to our Republic is an illegal gay Mexican immigrant getting married in a ceremony where
someone burns the US Flag. These Senators believe in power, empire, corporate subsidies,
huge federal deficits and debt, and a growing police state. Worst of all, they support
perpetual war fought against whatever enemy they can create in order to keep their
militaristic religious right and coporate defense contractor political base happy . The
Democrats are simply more of the same, except they want to spend more on their victim
centered, class conscious nanny state and only want foreign wars when the nation's vital
interests cannot possibly be at stake.
They all deny that, of course. Come election time, they all try to sound as libertarian as
possible. Yet, as soon as they are elected, they vote as socialist as possible. There is
only one Congressman who almost always votes the to promote liberty, and I admire him
whole heartedly. That is Congressman Ron Paul(R) of Texas. When elected, I will join him
as the Libertarian Senator in a joint house freedom caucus that will shake up the old
system of tax, spend and elect and provide a new Vision for America, Nevada and you, the
voter.
The Path to Freedom
Elect Brendan Trainor to the Senate and you will tell Washington, D.C. you want a new
vision for Nevada, yourself and America. A vision that sees America as a shining beacon of
Liberty, not the world's top cop. An America that does not impose its values on other
nations, nor force other nations to do business with us, but welcomes trade with all, on
terms agreeable to all parties, without subsidies, quotas, protective tariffs and non
trade related regulatory burdens. An America that is a good neighbor, as well as a free
trader. An America that does not interfere with the internal affairs of other nations,
even if powerful special interests argue that we must intervene, unless our vital national
interests are actually threatened. These instances should be rare, and our vital interests
should be shared by other nations who will join us in fighting a real, not an imagined,
threat. An America that will defend herself against criminals and aggressors, and will use
creative means to bring the perpetrators of 9-11 to justice at last, but will not
slaughter innocent foreign civilians in the process. An America that defends what is right
about her policies, but admits what is wrong, and corrects it. An America that once again
will be loved and respected by all the world's people as fair and just. A a nation that
believes in liberty for all, but won through private intercourse, trade, and cultural
exchange, and not through wars of "liberation" with the inevitable human rights
abuses and foreign intrigues and backroom scheming that results from such ill conceived
adventures.
Elect Brendan Trainor to the US Senate and you are saying you see Nevada as a sovereign
state, not an administrative district of Washington, D.C. You see a Nevada in control of
her own lands and resources. You want a U.S. Senator who will work to force the National
government to stay within its limited Constitutional jurisdiction. You want a 100% state,
not a 13% state. You want a friend in Washington DC whose primary job is not to bring more
"federal funds" (ie a percentage of your tax dollars) to Nevada, but to defend
your rights as an individual to privacy, and personal freedom . I will defend your right
to chose your personal lifestyle, to take whatever safety precautions you feel is
appropriate, as long as you are responsible for your choices, without intimidation from
Washington DC.
If you see yourself as a competent adult, not a ward of the state, if you believe that you
alone should decide what to eat, drink, smoke and medicate yorself with, so long as you
harm no one else, then vote for Brendan Trainor for US Senate! You alone own your
property, including your own body and life, and need no permission to live in peacefull
enjoyment of it. You will not be dictated to by politicians and bureaucrats! You will not
pay tribute to power so you may live in peace! You are a free , natural individual! You
are a child of Nature, and of Nature's God, not a corporate person, a perpetrator of
crimes against the state or public order or society. Whose life is it, anyway? If it is
your life, then Vote For Brendan Trainor, US Senate!
